PUMPKIN PATCH · SYDNEY NORTH
Share the magic, thoughtfully.
Pumpkin Patch is a community pilot in Sydney North. Records reflect observations, not a guarantee of decorations or treats on arrival. Respect residents and signs. Updated 28 October 2026.
What is public?
The home address and confirmed pin, decorations, trick-or-treat status, evidence, observation time and notes you submit are public. Share only what you observed. Do not include resident names, phone numbers, child identities or routines. Decorations are not permission to enter a home.
Location and account
Device location is requested only after you tap a location control. When viewing only your own GPS, the raw fix stays in page memory. Decoration submissions save the home pin you confirm. If you choose Share my location, GPS coordinates and accuracy are sent to Supabase and nearby signed-in users can see an anonymous visitor location. Observation accuracy and submitting account IDs are restricted to maintainers, not public lists. Nearby queries send the map search centre to the data service; providers may retain request logs. The map tile service receives your IP address, site referrer and viewed area.
Supabase handles Google sign-in and stores the login session. You do not give this site your Google password. Your email and account ID are not public. There are no ads or cross-site tracking. Technical counters stay on this device for checking map and database requests.
Guest sign-in and likes
Guests can sign in without email and receive a unique account ID. Guests and Google users can mark places, like and see people sharing nearby. Nearby guests can also see your location if you choose to share; sharing is off by default. Each account can like each place once. Only the count is public, not liker identities. Signing out, clearing browser data or changing devices loses the guest identity. A new identity can be created, so this cannot enforce one like per natural person across accounts.
Optional live location sharing
Sharing is off by default. After you tap Share and allow location, sharing lasts up to 15 minutes. Each update replaces the current coordinates; no route history is recorded. You can stop at any time, and leaving the page stops sharing. The server excludes coordinates older than 90 seconds; other pages refresh every 30 seconds, so old markers disappear within about two minutes. Stopping deletes the current record; a network failure relies on expiry. Expired rows are cleaned on subsequent location writes and may remain in the restricted database during inactivity, invisible to users.
Local demo and drafts
Pages marked DEMO use fictional records. Demo data stays in localStorage in this browser, is not shared across devices and can be cleared with Reset demo. Pre-login drafts stay in sessionStorage in the current tab and are restored for up to 24 hours, then removed after a successful submission. Signing out clears the browser login session.
Corrections and resident removal
Choose Report / Resident removal in place details. Submit after signing in. A resident removal request immediately hides the place from public queries until maintainer review. Report reasons and requester identity are private. Maintainers should check requests daily and respond within 48 hours. Identity disputes should not require public identity documents.
If sign-in is unavailable, send a place screenshot or coordinates to the community organiser who shared this site with you, for the maintainer. Before wider promotion, the maintainer must provide a stable public contact channel.
Expiry and retention
Treats welcome observations last 24 hours; other observations last 7 days. All expire at 6 am on 1 November each season, Sydney time. Expired entries are hidden by default and do not automatically become current next year. Maintainers should clear raw observations and reports after the season using the deployment guide. This cleanup is not currently automatic.
Maps and third-party services
Map © OpenStreetMap contributors. The map interface uses Leaflet. Normal browsing follows tile caching rules; there is no bulk download or offline map. The service is best effort, without unlimited use or availability guarantees. See the tile usage policy and OSMF privacy policy。
Sign-in and data are handled by Supabase. Walking directions open Google Maps with the destination home coordinates, without your account or observation notes.
Community guidelines
Mark accurately, respect residents and avoid malicious duplicates or harassment. Maintainers may hide incorrect, expired or removal-requested content. This first release serves the Sydney North pilot. Data comes from the community; check actual conditions on arrival.
